We received the news that Prof. Dr. Armindo R. Filipe passed away on 21^st of February
at the age of 78.
Some of you might remember Prof. Filipe from our first meetings when he joined
the ENIVD in its early stage 1997.
He was a highly esteemed and reliable member of the Network and he took the
opportunity to host the ENIVD meeting in Palmela in 2001 before he retired
the same year.
It was always a pleasure to meet Prof. Filipe. His tremendous experience
and expertise in infectious diseases and specially in arboviruses was remarkable.
His scientific contribution was greatly recog-nized at the international level.
His research and contribution to public health at the Portuguese Centro de
Estudos de Vectores e Doenças Infecciosas will be kept in memory.
Our thoughts are with his family, his friends, and his colleagues.
